A spice and flavorings manufacturer/distributor with locations in New Jersey
and Nevada was using an expensive private line to connect the business servers
(running Novell IPX) at both sites. The private line was secure and usually very
reliable, but had recently gone down for two straight days, crippling business.
They were looking to reduce cost, add redundancy, provide Internet access to
both offices and allow for future growth.
DBM Associates designed and implemented a frame
relay link between the NJ and NV, coupled with dedicated internet access links,
that would meet all of their objectives at a monthly
cost less than they were currently paying. The internet access links at each
location, with the addition of Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology, now
provide a redundant, secure link within 16 seconds of any
frame relay outage.
